January Snow on the Farm
31 January 2026 · Admin

January brought a heavy blanket of snow to Castle Peak Views — and the animals absolutely loved it. From the sheep bounding through fresh drifts to the cattle standing proud against a blue winter sky, it was a magical few weeks on the hillside.
January 2026 arrived with a proper Welsh winter. Snow fell thick and fast across our 27 acres, transforming the hillside into something truly breathtaking.
You might think the animals would struggle — but honestly, they thrived. Our sheep, used to the Welsh hills, barely batted an eyelid. They pushed through the drifts to reach the hay Kevin put out each morning, steaming breath rising in the cold air as they fed.
The cattle were equally unfazed. They stood in the fields, backs dusted with snow, perfectly content. Kevin was out twice a day with the tractor, making sure everyone had enough hay to keep warm. The border collies were in their element — racing through the snow, absolute joy on their faces.
The farm looked stunning. Moonrises over the snow-covered fields, pink and amber sunsets lighting up the flock on the hillside, stone walls half-buried in drifts — we captured as much of it as we could.
This is why we farm the way we do. Close to the land, close to the seasons, close to nature. January reminded us exactly why we left the Midlands and came to Harlech.
